District 4 and our clubs promote gender equality in education to further develop a pool of talented women for the future that is traditionally dominated by men. To address gaps and promote gender equality in education, our District supports three programs for women and girls pursuing education and careers in the traditionally male-dominated fields of aerospace sciences and engineering, business and business management and public affairs. We are proud to announce a pilot Women in Technology scholarship to encourage women to pursue a leadership role in technology.
To do this many clubs offer financial awards and scholarships to enable young women the opportunity to further their pursuit of higher education.
Zonta International, through its foundation, is awarding Amelia Earhart Fellowships to outstanding women pursuing graduate degrees in aerospace-related sciences and engineering for the upcoming academic year.
The Jane M. Klausman Scholarships work to support women from around the world who demonstrate outstanding potential in business-related fields. The District winner receives $2,000 US and the opportunity to compete for one of six Zonta International awards of $8,000 US.
The goal of the Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award Program is to honor young women of age 16 to 19 who demonstrate a commitment to leadership in public policy, government, and volunteer organizations.
Note: Zonta International is making changes to the 2020 YWPA. Outline of changes.
